Jill A Michaux is the managing partner of Neis Michaux Bankruptcy Law Office in Topeka, KS. She specializes in representing consumer debtors and small proprietors in chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy. Her primary focus is chapter 13 bankruptcy. She has been board certified in consumer bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification since 1992. She was a founding member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA) and served on its board of directors six years. She is the leader of the NACBA 10th Circuit Community. She currently serves as a director of the National Consumer Bankruptcy Rights Center (NCBRC). She was a founder of her local and state bankruptcy bar associations and has served as president of both. In September 2018, she completed a six year appointment by Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., on the Advisory Committee on the Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure to the Judicial Conference of the United States in September 2018. She has practiced law with her husband, Mark W. Neis, since 1984. She was graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor of science in journalism in 1977 and earned her juris doctor with dean’s honors from Washburn University in 1982.
